I'm going to tell you about a miracle. Unfortunately, most people are so spiritually blind that they will not see it. They will take these miraculous events and turn them into mere coincidence. Even though the odds of these events all coming together are impossible. Rather than face the fact that God works in the favor of His children, they will turn against logic and reason and chalk it all up to one big amazing coincidence. An act of sheer luck and timing. I pray that you are not like those. I pray that God would grant you eyes to see the miraculous.
I went camping this last weekend with several of my dear brothers. During the trip, my step dad allowed us the privilege of using his four-wheeler. Several miles away from the cabin there is a beach and campground with miles and miles of four-wheeling trails. So, we decided to take the four-wheeler and head to the trails.
Bill and Jason stayed back at the beach, while John and I rode out. I have no idea how fast that machine goes, but I had it full throttle for most of the trip. And those trails go FOREVER. We were making turns and going and going and going. Not thinking about the distance, just having fun.
Now, you have to keep one thing in mind. Neither John nor I are the "outdoors" type. Neither one of us can tell what direction the camp ground is. We're both wearing flip-flops, and neither one of us brought our phones with us! So, we're cruising along when all of a sudden, the four-wheeler starts leaning one direction. So I slowed down and asked John if we had a flat. And sure enough, the back tire is flat.
So now what do we do? I'm anxious that I'm going to end up damaging my step dads four-wheeler. He was kind enough to let us use it, and we return it damaged. Because what are my options? A: I leave it parked on the side of the trail and walk through the woods to a camp ground that I have NO IDEA how far away from we are OR what direction it is in, or B: We drive back (hopefully) on a bad tire and risk ruining his rim. A fat guy in flip flops with no outdoor skills walking miles through the woods without knowing which direction is which??? NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. So we drive on.
First, we prayed. We slowed down and said a quick prayer and then drove on. Now I have to be honest. I wasn't expecting God to do anything. I was just hoping that he would allow us to get back without doing serious damage to the four-wheeler. And I was hoping that we'd come over the hill and the camp ground would be right there. All the fun was sucked from the trip as I wondered how much damage I was going to do and how much it was going to cost me to fix.
After about 3 miles of this, we came up to a sign. I was hoping it would point to the camp ground and say it was just a short distance away. Unfortunately it said 7 miles away!! I immediately resolved that I was going to be buying a new tire. 7 miles on a flat PLUS the 3 we'd already done!! What to do??
About 1 mile later we came up over a hill. Up ahead on the side of the trail there were two dune buggies with great big American and Green Bay Packer flags on the back (if you know me, you know how I feel about those things). So I pulled up next to the guys (there were three of them) and asked if they had a cell phone we could use. One of the guys looked suspiciously at us (like we planned on grabbing his phone and taking off) and asked why? So I said I had a flat tire.
Now, here is where God revealed His miraculous love and care for John and I. The guy says, "You got a flat tire? Do you want to learn how to fix it?" The guy goes on to tell me that he fixes tires for a living. Him and his buddies were cruising along when their engine started making a weird noise so they had JUST pulled over to check it out. He asked me to pull around and he'd look at the tire.

So, he pulls out an air compressor, hooks it up to his ash try lighter and pumps some air into the tire. Within seconds he found the hole. He pulls out a little tool and some rubber strips, plugs the hole and "vulcanizes" the rubber (whatever that means), and he's done. The tire is fixed!!! So I ask these guys where they are from, figuring that they'd be some local country boys, but NO! They're from Madison Wisconsin and just 'happen' to be in the area! Oh the goodness of my great God! Praise Him!
Middle of nowhere. Flat tire. No phone. In the woods. Flip-flops. BORROWED four-wheeler. And 3 guys from hundreds of miles away, just 'happened' to be having engine trouble and just 'happened' to pull over right as we were coming up to them, and just 'happened' to be a tire repair guy, who just 'happened' to have a tire repair kit with him, and just 'happened' to have an air compressor. Miraculous.
